Hoodia Gordonii Opinions

If you're looking for hoodia gordonii opinions, you won't have a problem finding any on the Internet.

And that's all fine and good. People should be entitled to form their own opinions just as we have our own opinions here at Hoodia Gordonii Central.

But opinions and facts are two separate things. And not only that, but any opinions you come to about hoodia gordonii should be based on hoodia gordonii facts.

So let's talk about the facts first and then we'll give you our opinion.  You can then come to your own conclusions about this so-called anti-obesity wonder.

Hoodia Gordonii Facts

The facts are that hoodia gordonii is promising but at this stage (as of this writing in early 2006) far from an absolute proven weight loss wonder.

There was one decent study conducted so far. In it, morbidly obese people on hoodia gordonii experienced a drop in their daily calorie intake of 1,000 calories on average. This study was also placebo controlled, meaning half of the morbidly obese people were on a placebo to keep it scientific and valid.

Now don't get us wrong...this is very exciting stuff. But the reality is that it was a small study using a small number of people -- and it was only one study.

Much larger studies need to be conducted with many more people and for much longer periods of time to get a true picture of hoodia gordonii's efficacy.

One small study may end up being contradicted at a later point, whereas if many studies end up validating hoodia gordonii as a significant weight loss plant then we can move away from just hoodia gordonii opinions.

Another of the important hoodia gordonii facts is that the Sans Bushmen -- the tribe that has been using hoodia gordonii for its appetite supressing effects -- has been using it for thousands of years effectively and without any negative side effects.

This is also great news, but it cannot be viewed as scientific evidence of hoodia gordonii's effectiveness by any means. Just as some recent major reporters such as Leslie Stahl from 60 minutes and Tom Mangold, a BBC Correspondent who both said hoodia gordonii worked for them, cannot be taken as scientific proof. It's just anecdotal evidence....little more than much of the other hoodia gordonii opinions floating around out there.

Again, we don't say this to be negative or to say that hoodia gordonii doesn't work. We are just separating what is fact from what is just opinions on hoodia.

Hoodia Gordonii Bottomline

The bottomline is that if you want to try hoodia gordonii you should either wait for Phytopharm and Unilever (the companies that own the patent rights to the active ingredient in hoodia gordonii) to release their products in a few years -- or only use a product that has certification to contain real South African hoodia gordonii.
