Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pill

Hoodia supplements in the form of hoodia pills -- or what some people might call a hoodia gordonii diet pill -- are the ones we here at Hoodia Gordonii Central think are best out of the different types of hoodia product forms you can buy.

This is not to persaude you one way or the other; it's just the conclusion we personally came to when it comes to hoodia, and we'll explain why.

Nowadays, you can find so called hoodia gels, hoodia patches, hoodia liquid extracts, and probably even more.

But, to us, these are all wildly speculative products with absolutely zero scientific proof that they work, let alone work better than standby hoodia supplements and hoodia pills.

Sure, if you visit a lot of the sites of companies selling these kinds of hoodia products, they will give you all sorts of crazy theories -- and state them as if they are fact -- that their delivery mechanism, whether it be liquids, patches, or gels -- are better absorbed, get you faster results, more weight loss, you name it, they'll claim it.

Some of these claims are even probably illegal.

You see, no hoodia gordonii product in the world, even hoodia gordonii diet pills, (with but one exception we'll discuss below), can claim their products have been proven for weight loss, let alone faster weight loss than the other products on the market.

But, wait, you say...I thought these hoodia products were proven to help people lose weight. Otherwise, what was all that fuss about on the major news networks like CBS, the BBC, and many others?

Well, there's an important distinction that you have to draw here, and it's one that many people aren't aware of.

Only one actual scientific clinical study to date (as of this writing in early 2006) has been conducted on hoodia gordonii. And that was conducted by Phytopharm, the pharmaceutical company that owns the patent to the active molecule in hoodia gordonii that is believed to be responsible for its appetite suppressing effects. This molecule is now called P57. For more on this, see our page does hoodia work.

The results of the study were very impressive, but the bottomline is that only Phytopharm can claim their products have been proven for weight loss because you need to have scientific studies confirm it before you can say so. Otherwise, it's illegal.

On the other hand, it is true that some other companies can say that their hoodia pills contain hoodia gordonii that has been used for thousands of years as an appetite suppressant by the Sans Bushmen. See What is Hoodia for more on the Sans Bushmen and what they use hoodia gordonii for.
