Facts, Advice & Opinions about Hoodia Gordoni

Real Hoodia

Real hoodia is hard to come by.

That might be shocking since you see hoodia products all over the place nowadays, but it's true. A lot of what's being sold out there is undoubtedly fake hoodia...or being sold under deceptive terms.

We'll explain what we mean on this page.

Hoodia critiques are hard to come by on the Internet because it's usually just a bunch of companies trying to sell you their products.

So you don't really get hoodia critiques...you just get praise for hoodia instead.

Not that hoodia gordonii doesn't deserve praise, mind you. It's a very interesting plant that holds a lot of promise.

But this alone won't help you from not getting scammed and buying fake hoodia.

So, let's get into it.

OK, first of all, there are many people looking for some free hoodia. But you should be very cautious before trying any free hoodia trial offer.

Although it seems like it would be a great deal to get to use hoodia for free on a trial basis, here are some things to watch out for:

  • to get the free trial hoodia you often have to enroll in a monthly autoship program. The first month is free but after that it is really expensive.

The problem is that some of these dishonest companies use this free hoodia as a bait to get you in, but when you try to cancel out of the autoship, they ignore your request or pretend like they never received it and keep right on sending you the product and billing you. And chances are overwhelming that these dishonest kinds of companies aren't selling you real hoodia anyway.

  • Another dishonest tactic some of these companies use is to claim their products are "pure hoodia." The deception is that there are over a dozen kinds of hoodia plant, but only the hoodia gordonii species contains the naturally occurring appetite suppressing ingredient that can help you lose weight. But these companies can legally say "pure hoodia" without lying...it's just not hoodia gordonii, and therefore even though it's real hoodia, you and I would consider it fake hoodia because it's the wrong kind.

Here's are just a few tips to keep in mind before you buy from companies on the Internet that sell hoodia:

  • only do business if they have 1800 telephone numbers listed, and not just email contacts. Many of these autoship scheme companies that never let you get out will not have a phone number listed. Why? Because it's really easy to just ignore emails. If there's no 1800 number (or worse even any contact info at all) then chances are very high it's a fly-by-night operation that won't be around long.

  • have displayed on their website certified documents to prove that they are using genuine hoodia gordonii from South African. They are the C.I.T.E.S Certificate and the Analytical Report.

Here's why this is important: the reason a lot of what's floating around is fake hoodia is because real hoodia gordonii is very expensive. It's a very rare commodity, and takes many years to grow before it can be harvested for use. It is also protected by International trade laws and getting the required license to buy it is very tough. However, because the demand is so high and it's hard to get the real stuff, many companies just sell products labeled as hoodia but don't even contain any.

  • Also be wary of companies that don't give you any background info on who they are, their company name, how they manufacture the products, and so on.

Other than the Internet, you can buy hoodia based products at some retail outlets as well but the same problem of getting authentic hoodia still exists.

However, due to the problems of getting real hoodia, some respected retailers like Whole Foods Market, have pulled hoodia from some of their locations due to concerns about the quality of some of these products.
